Peel Region Uses END Youth Violence

Peel Region Cyber Squatting

It has recently come to our attention that the Regional Municipality of Peel and the Peel regional Police have been using the name END Youth Violence since 2007. In 2006 the Peel Regional Police had requested services from END Youth Violence and the following year started using the name as their website for youth violence prevention at www.endyouthviolence.ca. END Youth Violence is a registered company in Metro Vancouver and is in no way affiliated with the Regional Municipality of Peel, The Peel Regional Police, The City of Mississauga, City of Brampton or the Town of Caledon.
END Youth Violence is a private company and offers services and information to millions of people in over 85 countries since March of 2000. It has been promoted as being a private service not linked to police agencies or government agencies. Some youth have contacted us in regard to suicide prevention, violence intervention and other resources as they knew we were not a part of a police agency or other government agency and felt more comfort in confiding in us as a result. We have been very successful in working with parents, schools, youth, universities and law enforcement agencies in many areas of awareness and prevention of violence, bullying and suicide. By the Peel Region and Peel police using the name, we do not and will probably never know if any lives were lost as a result of the misleading name of their web site. It essentially comes in our interpretation as cybersquatting and we are handling this issue as such. We do not want anyone in distress to reach out to us, get the www.endyouthviolence.ca web site by accident and be scared away from asking for help.
END Youth Violence articles and news stories have been run in local, national and international media outlets and by cybersquatting on a name that they were fully aware of being a registered business name in BC, they are intentionally misleading some site users.
We are looking for them to cease the web operations effective immediately until a mutually agreeable resolution can be negotiated or until the case is heard in court if that is required.
