Bullying Defined
|
 |
Bullying is an act to empower one over another. This can be done through physical, verbal or implied actions. Many reasons for this can be defined but one solid cause is not available. An example of cause can be a child who is bullied or abused at home can come to school and bully others. This gives them a sense of regained power that is stripped from them at home. One who is bullied can suffer from an
extreme loss of self worth and their self esteem can be lowered so far that they do not feel as life is worth living. They can feel that other peoples lives would be better if they were not around. They feel that the only way to end the endless tormenting from others is for them to remove themselves from the situation.
Removing one from an environment of bullying is good but they do it through suicide. Not a happy outcome for anyone. This is starting to be recognized through the courts and bullies are being charged with criminal
offences. The sad part of this is simply that it should NEVER be allowed to get this far. Even more risky is an adult such as teacher or principal or even a parent who is the bully. Prevention through education is the best method for correcting such
behavior. The earlier the better. It should start as early as the toddler years. A prevention through early education is much more effective than to correct bullying
behaviors after a serious
offence has taken place and the courts are involved. This becomes a much less effective method known as a
reactive approach to prevention. Watch this section closely as more information
will be added daily on this topic. For information on workshops and
